Dr. Anthony A. McPherron has been in practice with Specialty Orthopedics,
Inc. since 2000. He is the founder of the Indiana Center for Adult Reconstruction,
a division of Specialty Orthopedics. Here, he specializes in reconstructive
surgery of the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow. He is the only fellowship
trained joint replacement surgeon in Northern Indiana.
He routinely performs both primary (1st time) and revision (2nd or more)
joint replacement surgeries. He also treats
patients who have had a joint done elsewhere and developed a complication,
such as recurrent dislocations, infections, or fractures located around
an artificial joint.
Dr. McPherron was born in Bremen, IN in 1967. He was in fact delivered
by former Governor and Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Otis
Bowen. He grew up in Plymouth, IN and graduated from Plymouth High School
in 1986.
He proceeded to Indiana State University where, in 1990, he earned his
bachelors degree in athletic training/sports medicine. From there
he went to Ohio University for his medical school training, graduating
in 1994.
He did his residency at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
He completed this in 1999. He then completed his fellowship in adult reconstructive
surgery at the Florida Orthopedic Institute and Tampa General Hospital
in Tampa, Florida.
He is married to his high school sweetheart, Kris. They have four children:
Danielle (1992); Amanda (1994); Brennan (1997); Cassandra (1998). They
also have a black and gold dog, Keady (named after Gene Keady, head coach
of Purdue Dr. McPherrons favorite college team).
When not practicing medicine, Dr. McPherron enjoys spending time with
his family. Other hobbies include golf, reading, sports, and astronomy.
